Safe Haven Foster Information |
A foster home is a temporary safe haven for a rescued dog or cat. The more available foster homes, the more pets we are able to save. The responsibility of the foster is to provide a safe, secure environment with the love needed to nurture the pet back to its happy, healthy self. Some pets may require special care that includes medical care, socializing, trust building. Safe Haven handles all of the paperwork and adoption process. We provide all of the medical treatment while the pet is in your care, but as always, we are grateful for any help we might receive from the foster parent. As a foster you can help us update SH with pets description and photos for our website. Being in your home gives us a better idea of the pets likes, dislikes and personality. This helps us find the perfect forever home for that animal. It takes a special person to open their heart to one of the animals, to love and nurture them for a period of time and then to give them up when their forever home is found. By taking just one rescue into your home you are making the difference between life and death for that animal. Your willingness to foster creates another space for us to take another pet out of a kill shelter or off the streets and save another life. |

Safe Haven requires a home visit to see where the animal will be housed while in your care. We also want to see how the pet interacts in your home. This must be completed before the foster applicant is given said animal. If you find that you cannot live without your foster once it is in your home, a foster is given first consideration to adopt that animal.
